The Crew at Nest

1) When and why did you move to the Vail Valley? - I moved here in 1996 from Palm Desert, CA when I discovered my love for consignment and stayed for the opportunity to open Nest.
2) Why did you stay? - I could not imagine living anywhere else but this beautiful valley!
3) What is your favorite type of product at Nest? - There are so many interesting products and so little time. I really like the unusual pieces of art that arrive at Nest, ranging from mountain to very contemporary and eclectic.
4) How you spend your time off? - I frustrate myself with golf, relax myself with fishing and drink lots of great wine. Life is good.
5) Where do you like to travel? - I like to visit my native roots in Hawaii and dream of visiting Italian grapevines someday.
6) Most interesting accomplishment? - The evolution of Nest. It is a fun place to work, our clientele is fabulous and the staff at Nest are such a great group. We are like family.
7) What do you wish you could be or do? - I wish I could be a master chef and a fabulous dancer . . . maybe in my next life!

1) When and why did you move to the Vail Valley? - My husband Todd got a job at the town of Vail in 1982 and we moved here from Denver.
2) Why did you stay? - Vail was a hard place to get used to, but after a year it became our home.
3) What is your favorite type of product at Nest? - Chandeliers, because you can swing from them.
4) How you spend your time off? - Helping other people and having a glass of wine (not always at the same time)
5) Where do you like to travel? - Hawai’i
6) Most interesting accomplishment? - Going on a road trip with my husband
7) What do you wish you could be or do? - Be a non smoker overnight.

1) When and why did you move to the Vail Valley? - I came to Vail in 2005, after working and traveling with the largest carnival in North America for 15 years, a job that I started the day after I graduated from high school.
2) Why did you stay? - How could I leave?
3) What is your favorite type of product at Nest? - Large and heavy armoires turn me on.
4) What is your favorite type of product at Nest? - FORE!
5) Where do you like to travel? - I just came back from Mexico and think that Hawai’i is next.
6) Most interesting accomplishment? - I have visited 45 states in the US and 8 provinces in Canada.
7) What do you wish you could be or do? - I would like to own and fly a helicopter.

1) When and why did you move to the Vail Valley? - I came for the summer of 1978 to visit a girlfriend and returned in 1980 because I couldn’t get Vail out of my mind.
2) Why did you stay? - I fell in love with the mountains. I put up with the winters to spend the summers here.
3) What is your favorite type of product at Nest? - Anything whimsical that speaks to me.
4) How do you spend your time off? - I love to hike, bike, garden, read and snowshoe.
5) Where do you like to travel?- Any place with a large body of water.
6) Most interesting accomplishment? - I’ve finished 6 century rides, with a smile on my face (well, maybe not the Santa Fe Century).
7) What do you wish you could be or do? - I’d love to be a dancer!

Phillip Miller
1) When and why did you move to the Vail Valley? - I was born at the Vail Valley Medical Center in 1987.
2) Why did you stay? - I grew up here.
3) What is your favorite type of product at Nest? - The products that aren’t heavy.
4) How you spend your time off? - GNU/Linux advocate.
5) Where do you like to travel? - Anywhere that it is sunny.
6) Most interesting accomplishment? - Married with 3 Australian shepherds, a full size, a mini and a toy.
7) What do you wish you could be or do? - Data analyst.

Erin Ashlock
1) When and why did you move to the Vial Valley? - I moved to Leadville in 2008 to take classes at CMC. I went on to complete my Certification of Occupational Proficiency in Emergency Medicine. I then went on to work for St. Vincent Ambulance Service as an EMT-B/IV for 3 consecutive years.
2) Why did you stay? - I was born in Colorado and I have always been in fascinated with the Rocky Mountains. I love to partake in anything pertaining to the outdoors, rafting, skiing, Mtn. biking, hiking and dirt biking. The shooting ranges in Leadville at the abandoned Mines are amazing!
3) Favorite type of product at the Nest? - I love the environment at The Nest. My first time in this store I said "I want to work here!" There are so many unique and quality pieces that are brought to us by loyal consignors who are customers as well. This place is truly unique. The knowledgeable staff recognize the quality of the prospective merchandise when it comes to the door. I do not think there is anything in this store I do not like.
4) How do you spend your time off? - What does any girl who lives in the Rocky Mountains do on her days off? ......I am not here for the traffic and lack of recreation!
5) Where do you like to travel? - Recently I have found serenity in Gulf Shores Alabama.....
6) Most interesting accomplishment? - I guess I realized as I am maturing, I can become anything I want in life. I put my mind to something and I conquer it, be it becoming a Raft guide, EMT or part of a Retail Mgmt. team, I never want to limit my accomplishments. There is ALWAYS room for improvement!
7) What do you wish you could be or do? - My next goal in life is to become a licensed Physical Therapist.

Sharmon O'Brien
1) When did you move to the Vail Valley? - I moved here for a job at the Jimmie Heuga Center in 1989. Since then, I've raised my 3 kids here.
2) What is your favorite product at Nest? - All of the incredible, unique pieces of furniture and accessories that you can't find anywhere else.
3) What is your favorite part of working at Nest? - I love working with all of the people who come into the store and my coworkers are awesome!
